Participatory online mapping based on design patterns

In the digital age, the role of online platforms in strengthening popular participation is crucial. Based upon the experiences of the Neighborhood Plan, a participatory urbanism methodology applied by the research and extension group Periférico, we explore ways to incorporate collective contributions into an application called Participatory Online Mapping (MOP). The Periférico Group operates in marginalized territories of planning, seeking a sociotechnical adequacy. Participatory workshops are based on spatial, events and urban ecosystems patterns, as project parameters. These patterns translate the complexity and transdisciplinarity associated with urban space, enabling dialogue with the community and mapping reality in the social, cultural, emotional, environmental, and economic dimensions of sustainability. Initially, we delve into the Language of Patterns proposed in 1997 by Alexander and later revisited, notably in the area of ??informatics, algorithms, and ??sustainability. In a second section, a literature review investigates the implications of the convergence of social sciences with participatory mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies. Finally, we discuss a sociotechnical adaptation of a MOP based on patterns.
