Single Exercise 2021: Diadema Laboratory

Abstract

The Single Exercise is an activity offered in the 5th year of the Architecture and Urbanism graduation course at Escola da Cidade that integrates three disciplines: Project, Technology and Design. This activity takes place on three different days of the week and aims to put the student in direct contact with issues related to constructability, materiality and industrialization of the execution process of architecture, objects and elements that make up the city. In the first half of 2021, the course was developed remotely due to the pandemic and the need for isolation. Considering the impossibility of using the workshops to make models and prototypes, as is usually the case, the option was chosen to approach a theme that could be developed in the executive project plan. The invitation from the City Hall of Diadema, made by Professor Mario Reali, in early 2021, to carry out urban equipment projects spread across the city in five previously defined reference points, proved to be a rich opportunity for the development of the planned pedagogical proposals.
