Reports of interviews with workers of the Rodoanel North Section
Abstract
“I am an intern of architecture and urbanism in a sector of Dersa (company in the Department of Transportation and Logistics in the State of São Paulo) called Social Management and Resettlement, which deals with expropriations and resettlement in one of the main road works in the State of São Paulo: the Rodoanel North Section. [...] I thought that my work relation with Dersa would facilitate the accomplishment of the scientific initiation research, which involves interview with the simplest front-line worker, the general helper. However, having access to the Rodoanel North Section workers was much more difficult than having access to the affected residents. [...] The fiscal engineer also demanded the material related to the interviews to be sent to the press review and to himself. From what the communicator warned me, he would not allow interviews to be done without first being absolutely sure what would be asked and whether the questions were intended to cause any scandal. The intent of the interviews is to understand how construction companies measure and control the productivity of a worker as professionally disqualified as the general helper.”
