Abstract

This project presents a proposal for a new Museum of Modern Art in the Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo, and discusses the urban territory and the size of the Oscar Niemeyer and Burle Marx’s modern park, from a simple and reduced section structure that extends through the city of São Paulo, transforming the urban landscape and giving new meaning to the park itself. Besides the structure that forms the ring of the museum, the proposal indicates appropriation of the hollow (oca) and the tunnel –which at that moment was only an abandoned structure – creating other relations with the built structures. If the landscape is transformed to those outside the museum, whoever goes through the ring has a new and unusual relationship with the space of the park and the city that surrounds it. A new view of the pre-existing modern.
