Abstract

This work is an investigation into the relation and appropriation attitudes of my body towards objects that belong to the kitsch universe. I propose a performance operation where I sew and wear the same covers and lace made for household appliances: by wearing them, highlighting their materialities and behaviors, and projecting other skins. There is a layer of memory from objects that were part of my childhood, typical of a middle-class generation from the countryside. Wearing them is both a way of estranging them and, at the same time, reviving and preserving them. The procedures share an intimate domestic environment. All the photographs were taken in the houses of my maternal grandparents in the northern zone of São Paulo.
